Cultural Tortola
Duration: 3.5 Hours
Details: Board open air safari buses in Road Town for a scenic island drive of beautiful Tortola. Your tour takes you from the ship through the busy business centre of Road Town for a visit to the J.R. O'Neal Botanic Gardens where approximately 30 minutes is allowed for strolling in the gardens. The tour follows continues up Fort Hill to the Ridge Road where the route passes through the local villages of Long Trench and Fahie Hill. A visit is made to one of the more intact remainders of the era of "King Sugar" - Mount Healthy windmill. Stroll the ruins and look at the surrounding views. The tour continues along the ridge before arriving at Sky World. Stop here for souvenir shopping and viewing from the observation deck, the islands of the Virgin group. A complimentary beverage is served here. Re-board your buses and continue your tour along the ridge for still more views before descending the Doty New Road to the North Shore line. The route follows the shore line passing through several small fishing villages before crossing the island over Zion Hill and continuing the scenic drive along the Sir Francis Drake Highway back to Road Town. The tour stops at the Old Government House Museum where participants are given a guided tour of the residence of previous British Governors where there are several displays of historic interest. A short drive through Road Town returns guests to the ship.
